The Ministers responsible for water management in the Meuse and Scheldt river basins met in Liège on 30 November 2001 under the chairmanship of Mr. Michel Foret, Walloon Minister for Spatial Planning, Urban Development and the Environment.
On 19 March 1999, in relation to the World Water Day on 22 March 1999, the Ministers of France, the Walloon Region, the Brussels-Capital Region, the Flemish Region and the Netherlands, who are responsible for protecting the quality of the Meuse, held their first Ministerial Conference on the protection of the Meuse in Namur.
